ABYSS CRAWLER is a third-generation product developed by Liberty Alliance HEXA GEAR .
It is developed to explore and control obstructed terrain such as drums. Unlike other third generation HEXA GEAR, it has two Zoatex modes and is characterized by continuous use of Zoatex.
At the beginning of the war, cities were attacked by unmanned HEXA GEAR devices called HIDESTORM. Further research revealed numerous vast underground tunnels and devices from the past that were used to carry out these attacks. Thus, the Liberty Alliance urgently needed a full-scale investigation. However, all information about the geological patterns of these underground structures, except for simple outlines, was lost, and worse, the areas had already fallen into enemy hands with MSG Valiant Force HEXA GEARS and droids roaming the tunnels.
The Hidestorms, with their electronic warfare capabilities thanks to their VIC blades and other weapons, greatly threatened the Liberty Alliance's coordination underground by exposing the communication lines, repeaters, and power lines connecting the cities. The Liberty Alliance recognized the need to retake the underground tunnels and hastily developed the HEXA GEAR unit, specifically designed to take on the task.
In developing the unit, the wreckage of a destroyed Hidestorm was recovered and its hull was repurposed and reused. However, with little chance of replicating the VIC Blade's capabilities or controlling or disabling it, the next best thing was to resort to a more practical solution. The result was the Invasion Counter Shield, commonly known as the ICS, which was equipped on the left arm of each unit. Due to a chronic shortage of parts, only a small number of these units were manufactured and were later sent in batches into the darkness of the underground tunnels. Due to the use of crystalline reactors classified as Level 6 - Abyss, there were countless heavily contaminated subterranean areas where even the worst surface areas could barely hold a candle. Abyss Crawlers waded through the silt and dirt and were occasionally used by Hidestorms, small droids, and other unwieldy combatants.
